Re car crash etc... Excellent and so distressing. Hospitals are vertcally managed for good reason. Rules have to be followed. But it's also NOT an environment where the individual is allowed to be heard. It's hard to imagine parents finding out that their children have died, due in part, to something that is so preventable. Doctors have to get out of the old school thinking that they are indeed God. Love love love Roseville's hospital approach to changing this. Keep up the good work!

Love this podcast so far. Dealing with issues that are important to me in a country that seems to have lost a moral compass. Thanks!

The question is what part of the patient record is owned by the patient? If the doctors and hospitals were required to provide the patient with access to an encrypted record of the patient’s treatment record, omitting proprietary information, the patient could send it wherever it needed to go. A multiple key encryption system would have to be devised to secure the patient-owned record yet allow it to be shared. The patient pays for and owns his/her medical history. The doctors day to day assessments, staffing, scheduling system, insurance limits, pricing, etc need to be segmented as necessary into a proprietary subset that isn’t shared. I get that. But the doctor doesn’t own my medical history. This could actually allow the patient to centralize his/her total medical history. It would incentivize development of great new healthcare software for individuals and families.
